The other night I interviewed my La Mia Cucina pizza delivery man.
I order from the on-campus La Mia more frequently than I would like to admit. And my friends and I have asked the delivery men to do some pretty odd things (like write a poem on the pizza box or compliment me because I’m having a bad day). So I was unabashed in asking my delivery man for a quick interview!
What’s your name?
What year at Miami are you?
Do you like working at La Mia?
Yeah, I do. It’s really easy. I like driving, too.
Is that your personal car?
No, it’s La Mia’s car. I don’t have to pay for gas, it’s great!
How many deliveries do you make a night?
It depends. On a busy night it can be anywhere from 30-50. But like tonight is pretty relaxed, so I’ll probably get 20.
Is it busier during the weekend?
Yeah, Sundays and Thursdays are crazy.
What do you do when you don’t have any deliveries to make?
Honestly, nothing. There’s always something to deliver, but sometimes its not a full bag. Like, it’s only one or two. It definitely varies.
What’s the weirdest thing someone has ever asked you to do while on a delivery?
This one girl, she lived in Morris (Hall) I think… I called her and said, ‘Hey I’m outside with your pizza. Come down whenever you’re ready.’ And she asked me to come back later because she was busy. I came back 45 minutes later and it was just the weirdest interaction I’ve ever had in my life.
